Your Trusted Buyer of Coins and Collectibles

Questions Frequently Asked by Sellers

What forms of payment do you offer and how fast do I get paid?
We pay with a company check at the time you sell us the product. For larger transactions, bank wires are available. (A $35 fee applies to all bank wires.) If you mail items to us, we will issue payment within 24 hours of confirmation.
If I mail product to you, when do we lock-in a price?
Once we have received your product we will call you. We will review the items you mailed and their individual pricing. If at that time you decide to sell, we will give you a confirmation number and our trade is confirmed.
What if we can’t agree on a price?
If we cannot agree on a price, we will immediately return your coins to you (registered/insured via US mail) at our expense. It is very seldom that we are unable to agree on price with our customers.
Do you pay more than the guys who rent hotel rooms and advertise to buy everything?
Most always, yes! We call them “road buyers”. Typically, “road buyers” pay only a fraction of the prices we pay. The full page ads they run in the newspaper cost the road buyer $10,000 to $100,000. They are traveling with a crew of people, renting a hall, and incurring large expenses along the way. From an economic standpoint, they simply can’t afford to pay the prices that we can pay. Worst of all, they are here today and gone tomorrow. If they see something rare mixed in among your coins, the chances that they point it out to you (and pay more for it) are slim.
At American Rare Coin, we are well established in the Twin Cities area. Most of us were raised here and have worked in the coin business since the 1980’s. We pride ourselves on paying the same strong prices to everyone. We have a great reputation and work hard to maintain it.
